Last year I had a plan: to watch and enjoy the works of Jet Li in chronological order once a week for 52 weeks. It was a good plan.
Alas, I failed at this plan.
I wasn't able to source a copy of one of the documentaries in time, and thus my whole idea spun out of control. No meditation was able to put my Chi at ease. Thus, the plan was placed on hold. But during that period of inaction, I explored my options and worked to make this work. And now I have a new plan.
And this time, it is better than the last plan!
Which probably means I'll fail even more miserably than last time - but that could be part of the fun. Other than a shrine to Jet Li and his universally destructive awesomeness, this website could just end up being a testament to my commitment to failure! Either way, I'm here and I am going to make this work.
So today being Jet Li's 53rd birthday, I will now start watching 53 weeks of his wonderful works as follows:
The delay in my plan has actually resulted in many things working out for the better: the release of Fengshen Bang was pushed back to October this year, so it would not have been released in time to make the schedule, adding The Mummy video game to make 53 makes a lot of sense, and I've since not only purchased a region A blu-ray player for some of these titles, but also the majority of this collection in general. Plus Born to Defence has been added to Netflix - uncut and in the original language - so I won't even need to worry about messing around with the aspect ratio on my DVD for that one.
So let's do this!
